Walking Tracks

1770 Headland And Lookout Walk

Level: Moderate

This trail starts from the parking area at 1770 Headland and goes to and from the lookouts, Approximately 15 minute and is an easy walk. Spectacular views of the Town of 1770 and the sandbars that form Bustard Bay.

1770 Butterfly Walk

During Autumn & Winter each year, the 1770 Butterfly Walk is overwhelmed with hundreds of thousands of butterflies! The walk is a very beautiful and easy 15-25 minute walk that starts at the Captain Cook Monument in the Town of 1770. To get there; it’s a 5 minute drive from the main town, a 30 minute bicycle ride on one texof our hire bikes, or a $15 (approx) taxi ride one way. It is best from March-June every year to see the Blue Tiger Butterflies.

Discovery Trail

Park your vehicle at the Community Centre, which is located at the rear of the Museum on Springs Road, Agnes Water. Alternatively, it is a short 1 kilometre walk from the centre of Agnes Water. The Discovery Trail map is located in the Parking area at the Museum (make sure you visit – it’s just $3 entry!). The trail meanders through bush to the Agnes Water Lookout and takes approximately 25 minutes round trip. The lookout overlooks Agnes Water Beach and Workman’s Beach. Spectacular scenery and breathtaking views.

Paperbark Forest Board Walk

The Paperbark Tail walk is an easy 15 minute loop opposite the entry to Springs Beach, Agnes Water. The Paperbark Trail has stepping stones, a wooden boardwalk and is home to some of the most spectacular Paperbark Trees and many creeping vines, butterflies and many amazing wonders! Allow some extra time for all of the photo stops.

Red Rock Trail

Level: Intermediate

This trail is located south of Agnes Water. A reasonable level of fitness is required for this track as there are some steep inclines. Take water with you. Follow Springs Road travelling south for 3.2 kilometres enter the sandy track on the left, which is opposite the Reedy Creek Reserve sign. Follow the track for 800 metres and park near the trees. Lock your vehicle and take your valuables with you. The walking track consists of a boardwalk, sand, beach and stepping stones. The beaches and the scenery are superb! You may even sight turtles and a dolphin or two. The track is to the right as you enter the beach and to Red Rock will take a good hour of walking or several hours if you wish to stop, view the scenery or take a swim. Two housing estates Rocky Point and Sunrise at 1770 are located in this area. There are signs that indicate “Private Property” – entry is not permitted…. please respect people’s privacy.

Agnes Water Beach

The beach trail is 5.5 kilometres long, great for walking at low tide. Enter via the foot bridge near the parking area at Tom Jeffery Park at Agnes Street. Look out for pretty seashells, washed up coral from the iconic Great Barrier Reef, dolphins, turtles and large schools of fish.
